Chromatic Tuners
A tuner is a small, very helpful device that allows us to control the mood of every note. Advanced tuners today have automatic tone detection and some also include a tone generator. For woodwind instruments, devices with a tuning range between 438-445 are common.

Guitar Tuner
Warning, there are cheap tuners special for guitars that have a smaller range and are not suitable for woodwind instruments.

Church Keys & Special Scales
If you also play on historical instruments, special tuners are available. It should then be set to at least 415Hz. Some even allow you to choose the different church keys.

Displays
The display type is a personal preference. You have the choice between stroboscope wheels, light diodes, digital display or a pointer instrument.

problem areas
Some tuners have problems displaying the correct tone when they are very deep, such as a bass clarinet, double bassoon or double bass clarinet. Here you should definitely try the tuner beforehand.

Battery operation
Some tuners have an automatic battery-off function that prevents the battery from being drained prematurely. Batteries are certainly the most suitable power sources because they are rechargeable.

Tone Generator
If a tone generator is available, the tuner can also be used for numerous intonation exercises. If you play in groups, everyone can pick up their reference tone.
