About the model

Lohff & Pfeiffer comments to the model
The Buffet Crampon Evette was the wooden student clarinet, produced by Schreiber in Germany and the predecessor of the E 11. It's still found in some pawn shops, on eBay or as used instruments.
The bore was 14.85mm wide and allows a free airflow with little resistance, optimal for beginners and young players. The dynamic range is stable from piano to forte and helps the student to get accustomed to a reliable intonation. The wide bore allows the use of closed mouthpieces without the feel of too much resistance. See also Clarinet bores and sounds.

The Evette was only available in African Blackwood with the black stained surface to give them an even look, independent from the original color of the different body parts. This has no influence on the sound. Buffet offered the Evette either with nickel- or silverplated keys. Our clear preference and recommendation are the silverplated version to prevent the risk of nickel allergies we Besides its antibacterial properties, does the silver-plating last much longer than the nickel-plating and keeps the value of the instrument longer. For additional options check out our options list at the bottom of this page. Due to the time value of these old instruments are expensive investments often not recommendable.
