About the model
The RC Prestige is one of the top models in the RC bore family of clarinets. The Grenadilla wood is carefully selected for its acoustic and aesthetic qualities and the wood is carefully polished and left in its natural color.
The mechanics are prepared and finished with great precision: milling holes inside the specifications according to the Buffet Crampon expertise. The tenons of the body are capped by metal rings, in order to limit the risk of cracks. The mechanics are carefully assembled and adjusted by expert technicians.

Lohff & Pfeiffer comments to the model
The Buffet Crampon RC-Prestige was for many decades the top model in the RC-family. It is available in 440Hz and 442Hz, the serial number on the high pitch instruments starts with an F. It is built-in A, Bb, and Eb.

The RC was traditionally very popular in Europe but is now played throughout the world since it is available in lower pitches as well. The sound is rich, full and warm with beautiful overtones.

The RC Prestige and Divine have a similar bore. The sound color varies depending on the individual bore-shape and tone hole proportion. The wider bore reduces the resistance a player will feel compared with a narrow-bored instrument. It is also very appealing to players who played on old R 13's since their bore had widened over the years. They feel as free and open as an RC. It can be played with a less open mouthpiece and harder reeds without feeling too resistant.
A very unique aspect of the RC-Prestige is the convex upper part of the bore of the bell. It helps to bring up the pitch of the low E and F.

The RC-Prestige is delivered with the left hand Eb/Ab key.

NEW ,Since 2016 are all Buffet Pro-clarinets equipped with an adjusting screw for the left-hand F/C key. This enables the player to adjust occurring disturbing key-play on that key. Lohff and Pfeiffer offered this feature since the 80th as an option. This is stall available for older instruments.

The RC-Prestige is available in unstained, polished African Blackwood as well as in the crack preventing Greenline composite material. If you prefer the natural wood version, Lohff & Pfeiffer offer the tone hole crack prevention for all wooden instruments as an option, to reduce the risk of cracks

Attention: In the US people often call R13 Prestige and RC Prestige just Prestige, without the important distinction between the two. They are very different in sound concept, intonation, feel and resistance!
